"I'm flying!!!" That's what I usually think when I'm riding with the wind on Strawberry. Did I ever mention that I have a passion for riding horses? I just started riding a few weeks ago, and I am loving it!
Here's a little story: I use to ride at this barn called "Flying Changes". It was okay I guess. I kind of had a mean instructor. I was about 7. And I rode for about a year. One day when I was riding, I was in the middle of a trot and a canter, and the horse got mixed up, and spring (that's the horses name by the way) went one way and I went the other, then BOOM!!! I summer salted off the horse and hit the ground really hard! I think I fell on hay though.. I can't really remember. But what I DO remember, was the air that I couldn't breath. The wind was knocked right out of me. After that day, I never rode again...
Then I rode at this other Barn. (I forget the name) I had a better instructor (kind of) and I rode for another year. Then one day, when I was cantering ( I was almost ready to learn how to jump) A horse on the other side of the gate spooked the horse I was riding, and the horse reared up onto its hind legs (I think) and I fell off. I remember the air being knocked out of me again. I did get back on. But a few days later, I stopped riding.
So all over, I rode for about 2 years.
6 years later..... I am back riding again! BETTER BARN, BETTER INSTRUCTOR! When I enter the barn, I see a whole hallway with stables, with the horses heads sticking out. I feel so comfortable and secure, when I'm at that barn. The first day I came to the barn (I didn't ride, I just got to watch my sister ride) I came up to this horse. I looked at her, and she looked at me. We had a major connection.... (and of course it had to be my INSTRUCTORS horse that was my favorite! Hahahahahaha) The horses name is Allie. Every time I go to the barn before I ride, I go her stall, and she sticks her head out and her ears perk up, and I give her carrots or apples. When I walk away to give the other horses carrots or apples, she kicks the stall! It's really funny! My instructor said I will be able to ride Allie some day as well.
I will always continue to ride horses. I will always keep moving, even if I fall.
Falling happens. You just have to get back up :]
